The Roussane grape is used to create Berthollier Chignin-Bergeron. It's a delicate variety that grows in long bunches and is susceptible to many common diseases. But when grown perfectly by the Berthollier brothers, it produces a striking white wine, with the haunting nose. Per the AOC rules, this wine can only originate in the villages of Chignin, Francin and Montmélian in the Haute-Savoie.

Folklore has the Roussette grape being brought back as seeds from Cyprus during the Crusades. However it arrived, today it produces an exciting white wine, with an excellent balance of acidity and an exotic nose, that's well worth aging. The first taste is a pleasant melange of competing flavors, between tropical fruit and the more familiar pomme tastes of pears and apples.

Only the Jacquère grape as grown in the village of Chignin can be used to produce this wine. It's light and fresh, but surprisingly well-balanced, with notes of island white flowers and citrus, and a pleasurably long finish. The grape grows in compact bunches, and is the basis of many of the Haute-Savoie's marvelous young whites.

Mondeuse is an indigenous red grape variety grown almost exclusively in the Haute-Savoie, yielding a wine of deep color and tartness. The wines have clear black pepper notes and moderate to high tannins.
