Domaine de Lanestousse - Madiran

 riginating in the stony soils at the base of the Pyrènèes in the southwest of France, this is a fulsome wine with notes of plum and herbs. The rich tannins give it a long finish.

It starts with a 60% base of the Tannat grape, that's then blended with Cabernet Franc (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon(10%). A short maceration, followed by micro-oxygenation and a twelve-month aging in oak casks gives it its distinct heartiness. And it's bottled unfiltered!

This is a dense wine, one that can easily be enjoyed now with rich poultry (duck, goose, or most upland game), any roasted meat or hearty spiced food, even a great chili. Or, just enjoy it on its own accompanied by creamy cheeses and slices of great bread.
