he Roussane grape is used to create Berthollier Chignin-Bergeron. It's a delicate variety that grows in long bunches and is susceptible to many common diseases. But when grown perfectly by the Berthollier brothers, it produces a striking white wine, with the haunting nose. Per the AOC rules, this wine can only originate in the villages of Chignin, Francin and Montmélian in the Haute-Savoie.

 |
Chignin-Bergeron is expressive, complex and well-structured. It has a light apricot nose with smoky notes. As it rests on the tongue it's full and substantial, with a long finish. A pleasure to drink right now, it improves with a few years of aging.

Salmon, trout, or any fish can accompany this wine for the main course. Poultry or game works equally well. In France, it's often paired with a rich cheese, as an appetizer or a finishing course.

Denis and Didier Berthollier are the next generation of vignerons working the land established by their forebears a century ago. They're balancing modern viticulture and vinification methods with traditional practices in their operation, and their wines are being recognized for it.
