 Red Wines
Chateau Colbert - Côtes de Bourg
From: Chateau Colbert - Bourg-sur-Gironde, France (AOC - Côtes de Bourg)
The searing heat of 2003 was a challenge to growers throughout Bordeaux. Rich wine from small harvests became the hallmark of that year's vintage. At Chateau Colbert, the season produced wines of intense garnet color, mature flavors and aromas, with a long aging potential.
Chateau Cadillac - Cuvée "JJ Lesgourgues" - Bordeaux Supérieur
From: Laubade et Domaines Associés - Cadillac en Fronsadais, France (AOC - Bordeaux Supérieur)
Always in the medals wherever it competes, the Bordeaux Supérieur of the Jean-Jacques Lesgourgues' Cuvee at Chateau Cadillac is an amazing expression of just a few plots of very old vines that grow on the highest areas around the Chateau. Those spots have a chalky clay soil atop limestone bedrock.
DuFouleur Père et Fils - Cuvée Napoléon Pinot Noir
From: DuFouleur Père et Fils - Nuits-Saint-Georges, France (AOC - Burgundy)
Cuvée Napoléon Pinot Noir exhibits pleasant and open aromas of ripe black and red berries, and a touch of spices, fern, and dried fruits. Fresh, yet full bodied. Serve now with grilled or roast meats, or cellar age for a few years and just enjoy on its own. It's made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, aged in a mix of stainless and oak.
Baron d'Ardeuil - Buzet
From: Laubade et Domaines Associés - Cadillac en Fronsadais, France (AOC - Buzet)
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine of the renowned 2000 vintage embodies the soul of the Southwest of France. The grapes are hand selected, and the fermented juice is oak-aged for a minimum of fifteen months.
DuFouleur Père et Fils - Domaine de Vignecroix - Saint-Amour
From: DuFouleur Père et Fils - Nuits-Saint-Georges, France (AOC - Saint-Amour)
The appellation's name says it all ! The Domaine de Vignecroix from Saint-Amour is just the right wine to celebrate romance. It has an open bouquet of ripe plum and strawberries, spices, and flowers. But it's also a well structured wine, with perfect tannins, and a long lasting finish of fruit aromas. It pairs well with roast or grilled meats.
Denis et Didier Berthollier - Mondeuse
From: Denis et Didier Berthollier - Chignin, France (AOC - Vin de Savoie)
Mondeause is an indigenous red grape variety grown almost exclusively in the Haute-Savoie, yielding a wine of deep color and tartness. The wines have clear black pepper notes and moderate to high tannins.
Domaine de Lanestousse - Madiran
From: Laubade et Domaines Associés - Cadillac en Fronsadais, France (AOC - Madiran)
Originating in the stony soils at the base of the Pyrènèes in the southwest of France, this is a fulsome wine with notes of plum and herbs. The rich tannins give it a long finish.
Chateau La Mouliniere - Bordeaux Supérieur
From: Laubade et Domaines Associés - Cadillac en Fronsadais, France (AOC - Bordeaux Supérieur)
This is an affordable red Bordeaux, that's equally at home with either a painstakingly prepared meal, or leftovers. It's properly considered one of the world's great red wine values!
